Letting go

“Some people think it’s holding on that makes one strong–sometimes it’s letting go.” ~Author unknown

Sometimes letting go is the hardest thing to do. There are times that this feat takes more strength of will and of commitment than any holding on could ever require. It feels at times like willingly putting a part of oneself to death.

I’m going through yet another of those moments—goodness knows there have just about been more of them than I can bear in the last couple of years—when letting go is taking more from me than I have to give in this moment. It has been and will continue to be a daily exercise in surrender for some time to come.

This is not a new thing that I am seeking to let go of, but today has been a particularly painful walk through the continued process, and I am feeling much too raw to write much for public consumption.

Therefore, in keeping with this theme, I am sharing with you a post from Mark and Angel Hack Life called 50 Things You Need to Give Up Today. This post has been making quite the rounds on Facebook lately, and I found the list so inspiring that I am focusing on one of these each week for the next (almost) year. I hope you will find it as inspiring as I have.

A Note on Comments: A chrysalis is by nature a fragile and vulnerable place to be, so I am committed to keeping this a safe place for me and for my readers. Comments sharing your own journey, even if your experience is different from mine, are always welcome and encouraged. Expressions of support or encouragement are also welcome. Comments that criticize, disparage, correct, or in any way attempt to undermine the validity of another person’s experience or personal insight are not welcome here and will be deleted.
